폴란드 포즈난 대학교에서 한국문화 행사가 열렸습니다.

Korean Cultural Event was hold in Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland.

사물놀이,부채춤,소고춤 그리고 K-pop?

There were performances of ~~~

자랑스런 한국의 문화를 보여주는 자리였죠.

It was where proud Korean culture was being shown.

K-pop 다들 소리지르고 난리도 아니였습니다.

K-pop, everyone was crazy about K-pops.

그리고 자랑스런 몽키매직까지

And, a goofy song ‘MonkeyMagic’.

몽키매직이요?

Wait a minute, Monkey Magic?

공연을 바라보는 한국인으로써 저는 민망했습니다.

That was so embarrassing for me to watch as a Korean.

이런 것도 한류인가? 한류라고 하기엔 좀 부끄럽지 않나

How can this be a part of‘Hallyu’? Isn’t this too embarrassing to be called as ‘Hallyu?’

사실 강남스타일이고 몽키매직이고 폴란드친구들은 다들 재미있는 한국문화라고 생각합니다.

Actually, Polish people think they are all fun parts of Korean culture.

우리는 한류를 무조건 자랑스러워해야한다고 생각하는 건 아닐까요?

Maybe, we, Koreans feel too pressured to be proud of our own culture.

외국인이 바라보는 한국문화는 우리가 생각하는것과 다를 수 있지 않을까요?

Korean culture can be something different from the way foreigners perceive it.

중부유럽의 심장 폴란드에서 한국문화에 대한 이야기를 들어보았습니다.

Following is the talk about Korean culture from Poland, the heart of Middle Europe.

The difference between Polish culture and Korean Culture, there are many differences.

한국문화와 폴란드문화 사이에 많은 차이점이 있습니다

They (Polish People) don’t care about what other people say. It is mostly about themselves.

폴란드 사람들은 다른 사람의 말에 별로 개의치 않습니다

I heard that Korean people really care about things that other people say about them.

한국 사람들은 다른 사람들의 의견을 매우 신경쓴다고 들었습니다

I think, Korean culture is open-minded and Korean people are kind to foreigners.

제 생각엔, 한국문화는 개방적이고 한국 사람들은 외국인에게 친절한 것 같습니다

Most influential difference is physical touch.

가장 큰 차이점은 신체접촉입니다

In Korea, especially between boys,

한국에서, 특히 남자들 사이에

having physical touch is very normal and it doesn’t look really apart.

신체접촉은 일반적이고 이상하지 않습니다

Boys to touch and hug or hold hands each other in Korea

한국에서 남자들끼리 툭툭치거나 손을 잡는 것은 이상하지 않습니다

whereas here in Poland that is very shocking. This is a big difference.

반면에 폴란드에서 이런 행동은 매우 충격적입니다.

Many dramas are very similar because they have similar plots.

많은 드라마가 유사한 줄거리를 가지고 있어 비슷하게 보입니다

I don’t really watch K-dramas or K-films,

저는 한국 드라마나 영화를 보는 것을 좋아하지 않습니다

simply because I have found them to be a bit boring and predictable.

왜냐하면 한국 드라마나 영화는 내용이 뻔하고 따라서 이야기가 지루하게 흘러갑니다

K-Dramas are unrealistic, but it is nice to see those.

한국 드라마는 비현실적입니다. 하지만 즐겁게 볼 수 있습니다.

People want to see happy couples in K-Dramas,

사람들은 한국드라마에서 행복한 연인을 보길 바랍니다

as they are relaxed while they watch K-dramas.

왜냐하면 한국드라마를 보면서 마음이 편안해지기 때문입니다

I like Korean Films, they show love in very delicate way.

한국영화는 사랑을 매우 우아하게 표현해서 저는 한국영화를 좋아합니다

When you have free time, you want to relax and to just watch some love stories.

당신도 여유 시간이 생기면, 연인들의 사랑 이야기를 보며 행복한 상상을 하길 바랄겁니다

You don’t have to say anything or think too much.

당신은 어떤 분석을 할 필요도 없고 지나치게 생각할 필요도 없습니다

Watching K-Dramas is a good way to get relaxed.

한국 드라마를 보는 것은 여유를 즐기는 가장 좋은 방법입니다

K-pop has many aspects.

케이팝은 많은 요소를 가지고 있습니다

I think the most important thing is that K-pop is not just pop music as it says.

제 생각엔, 케이팝에서 가장 중요한 사실은 케이팝이 단순히 '팝'이 아니라는 것 입니다.

K-pop is one of the best things I have ever met and seen.

케이팝은 제가 접한 음악 중에서 가장 최고입니다

K-pop combines many style of music.

케이팝은 다양한 장르의 음악들이 함께 어우러져 있습니다.

If you like rap, hip-hop, r&b, rock or electronic music,

만약 당신이 랩이나 힙합, R&B, 락, 전자음악을 좋아한다면

you can find all of them in K-pop

당신은 케이팝에서 그 모든 것을 발견할 수 있습니다

There are dynamic and amazing choreographies in Korean music videos.

한국 뮤직비디오에는 역동적이고 화려한 안무가 있습니다

Also, new and different faces make me pay attention to them.

또한 새로운 컨셉의 화장은 매번 저를 사로잡습니다

The visual elements in Korean music videos are colorful.

한국 뮤직비디오에서 시각효과는 정말 화려합니다

Hair styles, lightings, costumes and perfect make-ups are very attractive.

헤어 스타일, 조명, 화장같은 요소는 매우 멋집니다

K-pop sometimes can be shown not very mature.

케이팝은 때때로 아이들 같아보입니다.

The most strangest thing for me is that male wears make up.

제게 가장 이상했던 점은 바로 남자가 화장을 한다는 것 입니다.

K-pop songs sound like they are for children, so sometimes I think they are too much.

아이같은 모습이 지나쳐서 때때로 케이팝은 아이들을 위한 것 처럼 보입니다.

I like K-pops but I sometimes feel artificial from having listened to them.

저는 케이팝을 사랑하지만 때때로 케이팝은 인위적으로 느껴지기도 합니다

The most important characteristic of Korean Culture to me is

한국문화의 가장 큰 특징은

how hard-working Korean people are.

한국 사람들이 매우 열심히 일을 한다는 것 입니다

It is a new life style. I am a person who likes learning about new things.

저에게 한국문화는 새로운 생활양식입니다. 저는 새로운 것을 좋아하는 사람입니다

Koreans are so focused on their work, and for me it is very inspiring. I really respect that.

한국사람들은 그들의 일에 집중합니다. 그런 모습이 매우 인상적이고 존경스럽기까지 합니다

Korean Society is focused on making things ideal or perfect.

한국사회는 이상적이고 완벽한 모습을 만들기에 집중하는 것 같습니다

There are lots of pressures mostly on young people.

완벽주의 때문에 많은 젊은이들이 부담감을 가지고 있다고 들었습니다

I think it is really nice to have somebody who share same hobby.

새로 사귄 친구들과 한국문화를 나눌 수 있었습니다

I could just forget about everything and just relaxed, and that’s what I all needed to do

한국문화를 즐김으로써 마음은 평온을 얻는 것 저는 그것 하나면 충분합니다

문화는 무엇이라 규정하기 어렵습니다.답이 있는 것도 아니기 때문에 옳고 그름을 논할 수도 없습니다.

It is difficult to define what Culture is. There is no right answer about this, so no one can get to judge what is correct or wrong when issues about culture get into debates.

하지만 한국문화를 바라보는 폴란드친구들에게 이것 하나만큼은 분명해보입니다.

However, one thing can be said by looking at Polish people enjoying Korean culture.

완벽함에 다가서려는 우리의 노력이 그리고 열정이 폴란드 친구들에게 느껴진다는 것 말입니다.

Polish people are responding to the effort and passion of Korean people to reach to perfectionism with our own culture.
